Mental Health Symposium

The Bowles Center for Diversity Outreach, Inc. will host the Annual Teacher & School Administrator Mental Health Symposium (P-12 School Counselor, School Administrator and Teacher) Symposium will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The symposium will be held at Kentucky Career Center, which is located at 1324 Madison Avenue in Covington, Kentucky.  We are expecting a significant number of P-12 educators, graduate and undergraduate education majors to attend the symposium..  The symposium is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  The first breakout sessions will begin at 9:15 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  The second breakout sessions will begin from 10:45 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  The final breakout sessions will be from 12:15 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. (EILA Credit is Provided).

The symposium will offer an excellent opportunity for educational, cultural, social, leadership development and training to all of those in attendance.  Highlights of the symposium include state and regionally recognized Mental Health Professionals from Regional Health Care Institutions and Post Secondary Education Institutions.

Fostering a Positive School Culture to Improve Mental Well being

Self Care Strategies for Educators

Adapting to Educational Shifts (Remote Learning and Return To Work Anxiety) 

How To Identify Student Trauma or Anxiety

Trauma Informed Pedagogies (Creating Safe & Supportive Classrooms for Students Who Experience Trauma)

Suicide Prevention and Crisis Response (Spotting Warning Signs and Implementing School-Wide Safety Protocols).

Mental Health Stigma in Communities ( Navigating cultural or generational stigmas that may make students hesitant to discuss mental health struggles).

Intersectionality and Identity (Supporting students at the intersection of race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status).
